The
reduction in arable land and increased grants has
encouraged many landowners to look to woodlands
as a profitable option. However, planting fertile
land brings its own set of problems, such as protection
and weed control. Wessex Woodland Management with
its wealth of experience in planting and after care,
can advise and implement planting schemes on land
from .25 ha up to 40 ha.
Another
area in which our forestry staff are becoming increasingly
involved is the creation and management of hedgerows.
These have come under close scrutiny over the past
few years and the benefits to both wildlife and
agriculture is increasingly being recognised.

Another
sector that has become a potential option for farmers
is the creation of golf courses. Projects such as
these require strategic planting and WWM can once
again advise on and implement these programs.
